Interview with Linda S. Prather, Author of Eternal Beauty

Reading and Writing Addiction was able to catch up with Linda S. Prather, Author of Eternal Beauty for an interview. We are excited to share this insightful interview today with our readers.

RAWA: When did you first discover that you were a writer?
Linda S. Prather, Author of Eternal Beauty

LP: I’ve been making up stories since I was about six.  Always loved inventing things.  When my children were small instead of reading them stories we made up our own and continued them night after night.  I became serious about writing in the early 80s and actually started putting pen to paper.

RAWA: What is your favorite part of writing?

LP: I love it when the characters surprise me.  Although I plan out my book and where I want it to go, it’s usually character driven and they can surprise me with where they want it to go.  Makes me feel rather schizophrenic at times.

RAWA: What do you think is the most challenging aspect of writing?

LP: Time.  Life is fast paced and I actually get up an hour early every morning just to get some writing in before the day begins.

RAWA: Tell us about your latest release.

LP: Eternal Beauty is one of my favorite works.  It combines my love of mystery, metaphysics, characters I love and an antagonist that kept me guessing.  I sometimes wonder if in real life I would have fallen under his spell as I too am blonde with blue eyes.

RAWA: How did you come up with the title of your book?

LP:  Sometimes I have the title before the story, but in this case the title actually changed several times and was chosen after the book was written.

RAWA: Who are some of your favorite authors?

LP: Wow, I’m an avid reader so there’s a huge list.  I love Dean Koontz Odd Thomas series.  I love Kay Hooper and the Evil series.  I love M. A. Comley’s Justice series.  She reminds me of James Patterson, whom I also love.  Donna Fasano brought me back to romance with her Runaway Bride book.  I could truly go on all day and move over to classics like C. S. Lewis.

RAWA: What do you think has influenced your writing style the most?

LP: Continued writing.  I find the more I write the better my prose and style.  I loved my first book, but I’m sure if I rewrote it now I could make it better.

RAWA: As a writer what is the accomplishment that you are most proud of?

LP: This is a difficult question.  I think having fans enjoy my books and actively seek out new works or write me asking when the next book will be out.  I think all writers write because they have a need to share stories.  Having someone actually love those stories makes it all worthwhile.

RAWA: How did you get published?

LP: My first book was traditionally published, but since that time I have taken over my own career and self-published the remaining works.

RAWA: Do you have any advice for writers looking to get published?

LP: Write, rewrite and make your characters and your stories the very best you can.  Once you’ve accomplished that find a good content editor and editor.  If you’re going the traditional route, keep trying.  If you decide to self-publish then hiring good editors is a must.

Eternal Beauty is available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Smashwords, iTunes and Kobo.
