Please tell us about your latest book.
The Saga of a Modern Day Lot is a thought provoking fictional novel about love, lust, and a lack of trust.
Where did the idea come from to write this book?
After making some poor decisions in life, the results were feelings of continuously climbing a descending ladder. So the idea of this novel was prompted from wanting to use some of those life experiences to share a relatable story among others with similar life experiences.
Please give us an insight into your main character. Why is he/she such an important part of the story?
Hubert Alexander is a confident and successful marketing executive. Hubert is a married father and good friend, who always seems has the right answers. Unfortunately he struggles with infidelity. Hubert is such an important part of the story because; he will eventually encounter Christina Douglass, who will turn his entire world upside down. And with his life in disarray, Hubert will attend his mother’s church and hear a sermon called, “You are a sum of your choices,” which is about a biblical character named Lot, (hence the title). Hubert feels that the sermon was intended just for him. This will make him re-evaluate his decisions about, his marriage, his finances, and freedom as well.
Where does the story take place and why did you choose this setting for the novel?
The story takes place somewhere near northern Virginia. This setting is appropriate for Hubert Alexander’s position as a marketing executive given the many opportunities for potential success. I did not want it to be too rural or too urban, and I wanted there to be a larger city near such as Washington DC for marketing reasons.
What was the hardest thing about writing this book?
The hardest thing about writing this book was of course finding the time to write, but one of the challenges I found was the small conversations leading to the moments supporting the plot.
What do you hope readers take away from this story?
I want the reader to laugh, relate and become engaged with the characters. However, the overarching theme is that the reader learn that if they contemplate all of the possible results of a simple decision, that they would be more equipped to make more morally intelligent choices.
